German Court Rules “Phantom Goal” Game Will Not Be Replayed.
On Monday, Germany’s sports court ruled that Stefan Kiessling’s goal, which appeared to go through a hole in the side of the net, will stand and that the game will not be replayed. This comes as a surprise to fans of the game after a similar incident in the 90’s resulted in the game replayed. Hoffenheim are understandably outraged at the result of the case but can no longer appeal the ruling. This has once again sparked up the debate over goal line technology which is now being successfully used in England’s Premier League.
